چکیده

In January of 2005, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released the notice of the Animal Feeding Operations Consent Agreement and Final Order, offering animal feeding operations (AFOs) the opportunity to participate and help fund a nationwide emissions monitoring study that will be used to develop methodologies for estimating emissions from AFOs. As part of the Consent Agreement, ammonia and particulate matter emissions will be measured from swine, poultry, and dairy operations. This paper addresses the proposed protocol for measuring ammonia and particulate matter emissions as part of the EPA Consent Agreement.

New Protocol for the Determination of Reactive Organic Gases in Animal Feeding Operations

A new protocol was used to measure the quantity of reactive organic gases (ROG) being emitted from animal feeding operations (AFO) such as feed yards, dairies and poultry houses. The protocol makes use of a portable gas chromatograph (GC) that is brought to the field where actual measurements are taken in conjunction with the EPA flux chamber sampling protocol. To have the analyte concentration...

Determination of the inhibitory effects of microdiets used in routine commercial feeding protocols on protease activities of Argyrosomus regius (Asso, 1801) larva

The aim of this study was to determine the inhibitory effects of feed ingredients on protease activities of Argyrosomus regius larvae using in vitro techniques. A. regius larvae fed on a commercial feeding procedure were sampled thirteen times, during the sampling period (from 3 to 32 days after hatching (DAH)). The differences observed in protease activities of meagre larvae during the samplin...

Commercial Demonstration of Nutrient Recovery of Ammonium Sulfate and Phosphorus Rich Fines from Ad Effluent

Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a treatment approach that mineralizes complex organic carbon into inorganic carbon in the form of biogas, diminishing odors/pathogens and stabilizing waste (US-EPA, 2008). Biogas can be used as a renewable energy, while AD also allows for reductions in methane (CH4) and overall greenhouse gas (GHG) release (US-EPA, 2011). As a result, there has been increasing intere...

A Comparison between EPA Compendium Method TO - 15 and EPA Method 8260 B for VOC Determination in Soil Gas

Evaluations of vapor intrusion pathways of chemical contaminants often include soil gas measurements to assess the potential for indoor inhalation. No longer just a screening tool, soil gas measurements are requiring a level of quality and defensibility which should be incorporated in soil gas analytical protocols. While both EPA Compendium Method TO-15 and EPA SW-846 Method 8260B are routinely...
